Q: Who does Peacock aim to help?
A: At Peacock, our mission is to empower single mothers by providing them and their children with Christian support, housing, and life-skill training, with the goal of a self-sustaining future. We believe that all families deserve to live independently, safely, and comfortably.
Q: How does Peacock help single mother families?
A: Our services are tailored to each individual participant in our program. Each mom is paired up with a mentor, who helps develop an individualized care plan for their needs. If a family is in need of housing, they have the option of staying at our property, Peacock Place, where they will be provided with a safe, furnished home. If a mother is in need of spiritual or emotional support, life-skill training, or career advising, we connect them with the appropriate professionals. Our goal is to supply each mother with the resources they need to become successful and independent when they graduate from our program.
Q: Is Peacock an emergency shelter program?
A: No. It takes 2-3 weeks minimum to determine if an individual is a fit for our program, and only at that point can a family move in at Peacock Place. Although we do provide free housing to families in our program who need it, this is only one aspect of our overall goal with participants. Our housing is a stepping stone that allows single mothers to take a breath and start planning for the future, rather than having to stress about living day-to-day.
Q: How can a single mother apply to the Peacock program?
A: Single moms can visit the admissions page on our website to review our program requirements and restrictions. Because we understand that time is a valuable resource, it is important to us that a mother does not unnecessarily fill out an extensive application if they are not a fit for our program. For this reason, the first step in our application process is simply to reach out to us with a brief explanation of their situation.
Q: Where is Peacock located?
A: Our PO Box is located at 3708 E 29th St, PMB 217, Bryan, TX, 77802. Our property address is kept private for the safety of our program participants.
